Mini Review #5: The Walking Dead

Altogether I would have to give the Walking Dead a 4 out of 5. This is because although we only watched clips from two episodes, the series as a whole is just amazing. It has one of the best pilots for a TV show I have ever seen and the pilot gives you enough insight into the TV series to get you started.

Throughout the series, the show becomes better and better as the seasons go on. The only exception to this is that the second season is kind of boring and doesn't have much development to it and is the main reason that this show didn't get a 5 out of 5.

The TV show has lots of twists and turns in it that left me always wanting to watch more and always wanting the next episode. All of the characters have amazing character development throughout the seasons (except the second season) and that leaves me always wanting to see what happens next to these characters in the next episode/season. Also the cliffhangers at the end of each season are just amazing, making it almost impossible for me to wait until the next October for it to come back out.

Altogether I would have to say that this is probably one of the best TV shows on TV right now and I can see why it is such a popular show.

Fun Facts About The Walking Dead:
  • All of the principal actors have a "Last Supper" the day they film their death scenes.
  • From season to season, the opening titles "decompose" more and more.
  • Actors who played walkers had to go through walker school to learn how to walk and move like walkers.
  • During the filming of season 5, Norman Reedus requested to keep Andrew Lincoln's beard clippings "for some strange purpose known only to Norman Reedus."
  • The prison set took about two months to build.
  • Among the common nicknames for the Walking dead that are shared in different groups, are "Walkers", "Lamebrains", "Biters", "Rotters", "Lurkers", "Roamers", "Geeks". The term "Zombie" has never been used throughout the course of the series.
  • During cold filming (e.g. "Beside the Dying Fire"), walker breath has to be edited out in post-production.
  • The set used in the construction site scene where Abe is collecting materials for Alexandria is actually the prison set after being stripped down. You can see this by looking at the building behind them. It has burn marks from the Governors attack.
